This policy describes the types of data we collect through our website, how we use it, who we share it with, your rights regarding the information we collect, and how to contact us about our practices and policies. This policy does not apply to any 3rd party services that we use on our website. For information about the policies of the 3rd party services that we use, we refer to their privacy policy.

Data we collect about you

When you register for an account on our website, we collect:

• A name for your account

• Valid email address

We collect this information so we can contact you if there are any issues or for account purposes on our website, and to keep you informed of changes or new features of our products and services.

When you visit our website, we collect information about:

• Browser and device data, such as IP address, device type, operating system name, the language of your device, browser name, and time you visited.

• Usage data, such as what pages you visit, how much time you spent on each page, what links you clicked and the page that led you to our website.

We collect this information for statistical purposes, and we use Google Analytics to analyze your use of our website and to diagnose technical issues. We may also use this information to show you advertising for our products or services on other websites and platforms.

When you buy a Sailserver device or other products from us

• Your full name and address

• Your email address and phone number

• Your payment details

We collect this information according to Danish law, and to be able to do business with you.

When you complete your profile:

• The ID of the Sailserver you purchased.

• Accurate GPS location of your Sailserver device.

• A name for your Sailserver device, or the name of your boat.

We collect this information for the Seilserver to function, and to provide you with the information collected by the use of the Sailserver device. We advise you to use names that make sense to you and your “friends”, and we have no requirement that you should use real names to protect your privacy.

When you use your Sailserver device:

• Accurate time, date and GPS location

• Information from the instruments connected to the Sailserver device

• A phone number to receive alarm notifications from your Sailserver.

We collect this information to show you the data that has been collected by your Sailserver device, and provide you with the functionality on the Sailserver website, to connect with friends and share the collected information.

Who we share your data with

Sailserver does not sell, rent or give access to the data collected by the Sailserver device without your explicit consent.

Within the Sailserver application the options for sharing your information from your profile and the Sailserver device, is set to off by default to respect your privacy 

When you visit our website, anonymized information about your visit is shared with the Google Analytics platform. Google Analytics receives information about the netblock of your IP address, device type, operating system name, the language of your device, browser name, and Usage data, such as what pages you visit, how much time you spent on each page, what links you clicked and the page that led you to our website. Please refer to their privacy policy for more information.

Our website administrator can access your account information in case of account errors

The Sailserver operational team can access the system log files and obtain information about your IP address, device type, browser name and version, time and date for your visit.

How long do we store your data

Sailserver stores your information for as long as it is necessary to do business with you. System logs about your visit are stored upto 30 days after your last visit to our website, this also includes connections from the  Sailserver device. Your payment information is stored according to Danish law for 6 years.

If you no longer want to do business with us, and decide to delete your account on sailserver.com, all data is removed from our system and backups within 31 days.

Your rights

You have the right to gain access to your personal information at any time. All the information Sailserver stores about you can be accessed on your account/profile page.

You have the right to have your personal information deleted at any time. Deleting your account will also delete all the information we store about you.

You have the right to revoke your consent regarding your personal data. To revoke your consent you must delete your account information. 

In order to exercise your rights, you may contact us at info@sailserver.com. You can also contact us if you have any questions regarding this policy. If our response to you is not to your satisfaction, you must contact the data protection agency for your country of residence.

Security of your account information

We make reasonable efforts to secure your account information and our communication with you. Since we cannot guarantee that your information is 100% secure, you must contact us immediately at info@sailserver.com if you believe that your account is being misused or has been compromised, or if you discover any security flaws in our device or the services that we offer.

Sailserver is based in the EU, and all our data collection, processing and storing is done in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation of May 25. 2018. If you are not an EU citizen, we make no difference in how we handle or protect your data.

Updates to this policy

We may change this policy at any time if it is necessary for the services we use or the way we process or store your information. If we change the policy, we will notify you about the changes via the Email address you have shared with us. The date the policy was last changed, will always be at the top of the policy.
